Setting your receiver to work with Ordnance Survey maps

The following is a general guide to switching between the GPS coordinate system and the Ordnance Survey National Grid. There may be differences between receiver types.

Using Garmin GPS receivers with Ordnance Survey mapping

(http://www.garmin.com/):

Choose Setup
Navigation option
Select British Grid
Select Position format
Highlight Map Datum
Set datum to ORDSVY GB
Press enter then escape from setup

Using Magellan GPS receivers with Ordnance Survey mapping

(http://www.magellangps.com):

Choose Menu
Select Setup
Highlight Coord System
Select Primary
Select OSGB (select coordinate resolution if this screen appears)

Select Map Datum
Select Primary
Select GRB36 (this may automatically be done)
Esc to main screen

Using Lowrance GPS receivers with Ordnance Survey mapping

(http://www.lowrance.com):

Press Menu
Select GPS Setup
Press right arrow key
Highlight select datum
Press right arrow key
Highlight the specific datum, from the choice:
Ord Survey G Britain 1936 Mean (Mean for England, Scotland, Shetland Isles and Wales)
Ord Survey G Britain 1936 England (England)
Ord Survey G Britain 1936 England Wales (England, Isle of Man, Wales)
Ord Survey G Britain 1936 Scotland (Scotland, Shetland Isles)
Ord Survey G Britain 1936 Wales (Wales)
Escape from Menu
